Which niches still have room, and which channels are running hottest right now. Free, no card.
The top of the first table is where a real audience isn't already buried under clip channels.
The second table shows who's running above their own normal right now, that's where unclipped moments are happening.
Point it at that channel and it clips what chat reacts to while the stream is still running, straight to your phone.
Scored on live audience size weighted against how crowded the niche already is with clip channels. A massive category you can't break into scores lower than a mid-size one nobody is working yet.
| # | Niche | Score | Live viewers | 7d | Clip competition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sports Commentary & Betting Analysis Analysis and debate shows around sports carry stronger ad rates, partly from betting-adjacent advertisers, clip commentary, not broadcast footage. | 100 | 2,294 | ▲ 24% | low |
| 2 | Chess & Strategy Smaller but genuinely engaged audience, brilliant moves and blunders clip cleanly, clip competition on Twitch is low. | 93 | 1,344 | ▲ 7% | low |
| 3 | Variety & Reaction Streams Quotable, self-contained moments, be mindful that the streamer's commentary is the transformative content, not the video they're reacting to. | 82 | 106,459+ | ▼ 38% | medium |
| 4 | Software & Coding One of the least-clipped categories relative to its audience size, niche but professional audience, dedicated clip competition is close to nonexistent. | 78 | 410 | ▼ 40% | low |
| 5 | IRL Streams Unpredictable, real-world moments, street interactions, mishaps, spontaneous reactions, chat reacts instantly. | 71 | 21,929 | ▼ 31% | medium |
| 6 | Cooking & Food Visual, satisfying, and translates well across languages since it relies less on spoken commentary than most talk-heavy categories. | 70 | 220 | ▼ 60% | low |
| 7 | Music & Performance High retention, but tread carefully, official performances are among the most aggressively copyright-enforced categories, commentary is the safer angle. | 58 | 3,314 | ▼ 61% | medium |
| 8 | Podcasts & Talk Shows Multi-host format naturally produces quotable, self-contained soundbites, easy to clip cleanly without much editing. | 47 | 768 | ▼ 70% | medium |
| 9 | Just Chatting Twitch's biggest category by viewership, near-constant reactions and hot takes, but also the most crowded category on the platform. | 37 | 106,459+ | ▼ 38% | high |
| 10 | Fitness & Gym Engaged, health-adjacent audience that advertisers like, PR moments and form breakdowns clip well. | 37 | 18 | ▼ 89% | low |
| 11 | Battle Royale (Fortnite) Squad wipes and last-second wins produce an obvious peak moment, content supply is essentially unlimited. | 35 | 45,870+ | ▲ 15% | high |
| 12 | Competitive FPS (Valorant, CS2) Sharp, self-contained highlight moments, clutches and insane plays, chat explodes the second one happens. | 34 | 40,712+ | ▼ 10% | high |
| 13 | Sandbox & Survival (Minecraft, Roblox) Huge, loyal audiences and constant content, especially on modded or hardcore servers, but one of the most crowded clip categories that exists. | 32 | 19,980+ | ▼ 51% | high |

continue with twitchRanked by how far above their own recent average a channel is running, not by size. Everyone already clips the biggest streamers within minutes; a mid-size channel at 3x its normal is the window nobody else is watching. Every channel here was live at the last refresh below, so check before you commit to one: some will have ended their stream since.

The score is the column to sort your thinking by. It combines two things that pull against each other: how much audience a niche has live right now, and how crowded it already is with clip channels. Biggest category wins on the first and loses on the second, which is exactly why the most obvious niche is rarely the best one to start in.
The 7-day column compares live viewers to roughly a week ago. A niche climbing here is pulling in audience faster than the clippers have noticed, which is the window you want to enter in.
vs. own avg on the channel table is deliberately not a "biggest channels" ranking. Every clipper already knows who the biggest streamers are, and their moments are clipped within minutes by accounts with a head start. A mid-size channel running at 3x its own normal is a far better clipping window: something is happening, and far fewer people are watching for it.
None of this replaces judgment about what you actually enjoy watching. It replaces the guesswork about where the room is.
The live half is pulled from Twitch's official public API every 3 hours, no scraping, no estimates. Very large categories are sampled from the top down rather than walked exhaustively, which is why some numbers carry a +, the real figure is at least that high.
The clip-competition rating is editorial, not measured. Twitch can tell us how many people are watching a category; it can't tell us how many clip channels are already farming it. That half is our own judgment, and it's the half worth arguing with.
A handful of niches in our editorial list (horror playthroughs, retro gaming) have no single Twitch category that represents them honestly, so they aren't in the live tables. For the full editorial breakdown of every niche including those, and real published CPM figures by platform, see which clipping niche pays the most.
Picking the niche is the first half. The second is catching the moments fast enough to matter, and klypra's real-time highlight detection is built for exactly that: it watches the chat of any channel you point it at and clips the moments chat reacts to, while the stream is still live. Pick a channel off the table above and it can start monitoring it in about five minutes.
Live audience size for the niche, pulled from Twitch's official API and log-scaled so a category ten times bigger counts as better but not ten times better, then weighted down by how crowded that niche already is with clip channels. The audience half is live data; the competition half is our editorial rating, because Twitch's API can tell you how many people are watching but nothing about how many clippers are already working a niche.
It compares a channel's current viewer count to its own median across previous snapshots, not to other channels. 3.0x means the channel is running at three times its own normal right now, which usually means something is happening worth clipping. A huge channel sitting at 1.0x is just a normal day.
Every 3 hours. The 7-day trend column needs about a week of history before it fills in, so newly tracked niches show a dash until then.
Finance, crypto, and sports-betting analysis carry the highest CPM, but produce the fewest clippable moments. High-volume categories like Just Chatting pay less per view but hand you far more material. This tool ranks by saturation rather than payout, so pair it with our full CPM breakdown before committing to a niche.
No. The top entries in each table are open to everyone. A free klypra account (no card) unlocks the full ranking, and lets you point automatic clipping at any channel on it.
Always check the individual streamer's rules and any campaign terms you're clipping under. This tool shows public Twitch activity data, it doesn't grant permission to repost anyone's content.
Every category in the table has its own page, carrying the same live numbers plus the channels currently worth watching in it:
